About Jonathan

My name is Jonathan Breland and I am originally from Berkeley, California. I moved to Oregon in 2014 to continue to pursue my transformation and follow my personal journey of Ascension. My initial reason for moving to Oregon was to continue to pursue my goal of playing college football and graduating from college.
Along this journey I have always maintained focus on achieving my goals, but also encouraged those around me to believe in themselves, maintain their faith, overcome obstacles, and continue to pursue the life they see for themselves.
My whole life has been rooted in the theme of helping others and being of service to others. Being raised by my grandmother, I was taught at an early age the value of being of service to others. One of my favorite quotes is from Dr. Martin Lurther King, Jr when he posed the question, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?”
This quote has been the cornerstone of my life and has been a guide for how I show up in this world. I consistently reflect and ask myself...
“How am I showing up for others? And how can I better be of service to those around me?”
With a license as a mental health counselor and a background in collegiate sports as a prior college athlete and coach, I use my experience to work with individuals. Doing the work consists of identifying goals, analyzing barriers, overcoming challenges, and creating an accurate and appropriate plan to gain and sustain success.
"Someone who isn't tied to me, but who I know genuinely wants me to win my own battles and having someone in your corner matters. Jon actually gets to know YOU. Not who he wants you to be, but you as you are and where you're trying to get to. Not forcing you but going step-by-step with you." - Jasmin CW
"The greatest thing I've learned is my own self-worth! Through working with Jon, I've learned to embrace all aspects of my health: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and even financial! I love working with Jon because he knows when and how to be a coach as well as a friend. He can balance humor and training well and also drop Bible wisdom. -Nikkita K.
Benefits of working with a Counselor:
-
The American Psychological Association reports that approximately 75% of the people who engage in psychotherapy show some benefit from treatment, including improved emotional functioning, healthier relationships, and reduced symptoms.
-
Researched summarized by the APA found that roughly 50% of clients experience measurable recovery within 15-20 counseling sessions.
-
Quote that can be used to summarize the two mentioned statistics: "Research shows that approximately 75% of people who engage counseling experience measurable improvements in their mental health, and about half achieve significant recovery within 15-20 sessions. Counseling has been shown to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, strengthen coping skills, improve relationships, and enhance overall quality of life."- Jonathan Breland
